One Million Acts Of Kindness

One Million Acts Of Kindness

One Million Acts Of Kindness

This is Bob. He is a very brave guy who changed his life radically and dedicated it to a higher purpose!

After a divorce, the events of September 11th and the slaughter at Virginia Tech, Bob decided to sell everything, buy a bus and travel around the USA over 10 years now, simply to spread love and kindness.

As a father of three college age kids Bob felt concerned for the world in which all kids will live. So he wanted to change our world for the better with a very simple tool: being kind.

Bob was hoping to convince as many people as possible about this much needed movement for this world. About sixty family members, friends and neighbours helped him painting his bus with awesome messages:

And this is what Bob says about his vision:

„One Million Acts Of Kindness is a goal. A goal for each person to individually perform One Million Acts Of Kindness in their life. Can you imagine a greater goal for one’s life? It is a constant mind-set of kindness every day of your life for the next fifty-five years. Doing for others and kindness in your heart for everyone. It is my wish that you will dedicate your life to a charity… finding the passion in your heart for something or someone in need.“

Ain´t that a beautiful idea? And it works – Bob inspired me already to be more kind and open every day :)

The art of Meredith Woolnough is showing the beauty of nature in knotted embroidery threads. Her creations look like coming directly from a coral reef out of the ocean. The intricate embroideries are then carefully pinned in shadowboxes, just like preserved specimens.

I am so fascinated by those amazing patterns and was wondering, how is it possible to create such delicate embroidery?  And I found the tricky answer: the secret behind her works is the fabric, because it is water soluble! It was originally invented by the medical industry and is now available in sewing shops. It works as the basic stabilizer on which Meredith can sew her beautiful designs. When the embroidery is finished, she just washes the fabric away.

Nevertheless, the work of Meredith Woolnough, who lives in Australia is extremely intriguing. You can find out more about her art at MeredithWoolnough.com or watch this interesting video, where she explains her working process:

Dying to be me

Dying to be me

Dying to be me

This is a post you might not expect on a blog like this. Nevertheless, as I want to share with you inspiration in every aspect of life – I would dearly recommend you to read the amazing story of Anita Moorjani. It´s about nothing less than finding out, how magnificent we all are, the importance of loving ourselves unconditionally and living fearlessly.

I know, there has such a lot of stuff been written about it!
But the message of Anita Moorjani is so different.

Anita lives in Hongkong and has had lymphoma cancer in the final stage. Her suffering went four years long and she was about to die.

In the very night, when her organs were failing, she fell into a coma. For 24 hours Anita was pending between life and death.

The thing is – she decided to come back to life and her cancer disappeared in days. How this was possible and what message she brought back from that realm she visited she explains in this interview at Anita M´s NDE, pdf

Of course, her miraculous healing is spectacular. But what I find most impressive is what she has learned about our existence: the letting go of thoughts and beliefs, which enabled her to perceive life as such in a totally renewed way.

Her sharing of her experience is a true gift for everyone of us.

If you´d like to find out more about Anita, you can read on at her website:

Her whole life this woman has been in love with textiles, patterns, colours and texture. Looking back now, with 82 years, Sheila Hicks can claim to have always followed her passion.

What makes her work so special is her painterly and architectural approach to textile design. Along with other fiber artists, she is responsible for taking textiles off the wall and giving them a sculptural dimension.

Just awesome!

What fascinates me most, is the amazing variety of her work. She has started with minimal weavings, which she was inspired to during her trips through Mexico. For more then 50 years now she always carries a small handmade wooden frame in her bag around the world. The hundreds of works have the size of a piece of notebook paper:

Other works of Sheila Hicks have the sizes of footbal fields like this huge installation called „The silk rainforest“.

With her 82 years, Sheila Hicks is such a fascinating and inspiring lady. She established herself as one of the most innovative textile artists of the 20th century. But most importantly she radiates so much joy and passion that she still looks like a young girl, ready to play and discover the world full of (textile -) adventures.

Sheila Hicks: Foray into Chromatic Zones - The first art installation presented within the Dan Graham Waterloo Sunset Pavilion overlooking Waterloo Bridge and the London Skyline. It includes: scale bundles of coloured fabric that visitors are welcome to sit on and interact with; and mounds of differently and vibrantly coloured fabric that hang from the ceiling. CUBELIN at the Chrismas Charity of the Gallery Baeckerstrasse in Berlin Schöneberg. This event was organized by owner Alexander Urban and his lovely wife Marie Le Febvre. Lots of friends and costumers came to buy tickets for the tombola and more. More than hundreds guests made this event a big success. Besides the Cubelins I presented a collection of my new crocheted sculpture bags. Having sold the Cubelin „Flowers“ 10 % of the price is donated to the help of the Berlin refugees. Finally in total 1500 Euros were raised to support the Malteser egagement for refugees.
